Basal Generator

While using SmartGuard™, the pump adjusts your basal on its own. When your sensor expires or fails, MiniMed 780G switches to manual mode and returns to the basal you set earlier, which may no longer be up to date. This app analyzes your SmartGuard™ history and builds a ready basal pattern from it, before you need it.

Supported sensors: Guardian™ 4, Simplera Sync™, and Instinct™.

About Basal Generator

Basal Generator is a free, independent tool for people with Type 1 diabetes who use the Medtronic MiniMed™ 780G insulin pump. It reads the automatic basal insulin that SmartGuard™ has already delivered and shows it hour by hour, with charts and statistics from your own history.

What is SmartGuard™ Auto Mode?

In Auto Mode, the MiniMed 780G adjusts your basal insulin on its own, based on readings from your sensor. You do not set a basal pattern for this mode - the pump decides continuously, and its work is recorded as automatic basal micro-boluses.

What is Manual Mode and why does the basal pattern matter?

When your sensor expires or fails, or Auto Mode ends for another reason, the pump switches to Manual Mode and delivers the basal pattern saved in its settings. If that pattern was set long ago, it may no longer match what SmartGuard™ has actually been delivering recently. That is the gap this tool lets you look at.

What does Basal Generator show?

For a period you choose (from 7 to 365 days), it shows your automatic basal delivery for each hour of the day as a chart and a table, together with daily totals. You can optionally include automatic corrections in the totals. These are statistics of the past, meant as a reference when you review your Manual Mode basal with your diabetologist - not a recommendation of settings.
